Paper Anniversary: Day 5

Woke up in lovely Akron, Ohio today, en route to Chicago, home of the Polish Museum of America, which the wife and I are naturally keen to experience. We're probably going to skip the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, since we wanna get to the Big Windy in time for LOST...but we DID make time yesterday for a rainy afternoon at the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia. I'll let their brochure speak for itself:

Our one-of-a-kind treasures include --

  • the plaster cast of the torso of world-famous Siamese Twins, Chang & Eng, and their cojoined livers
  • Joseph Hyrthl's collection of skulls
  • preserved body of the "Soap Lady"
  • collection of 2,000 objects extracted from people's throats [Ed: Including a "Perfect Attendance" pin!]
  • cancerous growth removed from John Wilkes Booth's thorax
  • tallest skeleton on display in North America
Okay...onward to the Polish Museum and live band karaoke!
