FESTIVUS!

Greetings from Austin, Tejas! Just spent the past few days enjoying SXSW 2006 and a few good movies, including 2AM (by my supertalented, supercharismatic friend Korey Colman), LoudQuietLoud (a Pixies documentary), And God Spoke (a documentary about Al Franken), The Notorious Bettie Page (a film about tasteful nudity), Heart of Gold (a concert film about aging rockers) and some entertaining Texas shorts (including a film by the ever talented Zellner brothers, whose Plastic Utopia is one of the great unheralded cult films of the 20th century). Celebrity sightings thus far include Neil Young, Jonathan Demme, Spoon, Echo & the Bunnymen and indie film guru Jon Pierson, who once had thoughts about punching me in the nose. But that's another story entirely. Stay tuned!
